Each wedding you manage in Weddingkart is its own self-contained event — with its own guest list, groups, announcements, credits, team, and analytics. This page covers how to create and configure a wedding, how multi-day weddings work, and what happens to a wedding after the big day.

Creating a new wedding

1

Open your events list

Open the Weddingkart app. After you log in, you land on the list of your weddings and events.
2

Tap Create Event

Tap Create Event to open the setup form. If you haven’t created anything yet, tap Continue to create a wedding or Corporate event instead.
3

Choose what you're planning

Under What are you planning?, pick A wedding (“For a couple and their guests”) or A corporate event (“Offsite, conference, awards night”). A corporate event has no couple, so it asks for an Event name instead of the bride and groom fields below. See Wedding vs corporate event.
4

Fill in the wedding details

Complete the following fields:
5

Create

Tap Create Wedding. You’ll see 🎉 Your Wedding was created! and you’re taken to the wedding’s home screen.

Field rules

What happens when you add the couple’s numbers

If you fill in Bride’s Number or Groom’s Number, that person gets a WhatsApp message letting them know their wedding has been set up on Weddingkart, with links to download the app. Adding their number does not give them access to the wedding. To let the bride or groom manage it with you, add them from Team. See Team Collaboration.

Wedding vs corporate event

Both kinds are created from the same Create Event button and work the same way once created: guests, groups, announcements, RSVPs, travel, IDs, chat, credits, and team all behave identically. The differences are: You can’t turn a wedding into a corporate event, or the other way round, after it’s created. Create a new one of the right kind instead.

Multi-day weddings and events

A wedding with several functions over several days is one wedding in Weddingkart. Use the Wedding Date for the first day, then add each function as an event inside it:
  1. Open the wedding and go to Events. On a paid wedding it’s in the More sheet. It may also appear among the FEATURED tiles on the Home tab. The screen is titled Manage Events.
  2. Tap Create New Event, then Create from scratch. Or tap one of the SUGGESTED EVENTS — Haldi, Reception, Mehandi, or Sangeet — to start with its name filled in.
  3. Fill in the event:
    • Event Name — required
    • Event Date — required; any date from today up to a year ahead
    • Event Time — optional
    • Venue — optional
    • Dress Code — optional
    • Other Details — optional
    • Select Invited Guests — pick the guest groups invited to this function (for example, All Guests for the reception and a smaller group for the mehandi)
  4. Tap Create Event. It appears under YOUR EVENTS. An empty field shows This field is required.
To change an event, tap it, edit, and tap Update Event. To remove it, tap Delete Event and confirm with Yes, delete.

Editing wedding details

You can update the date and the couple’s names and numbers after the wedding has been created.
  1. Open the wedding from your list.
  2. Tap the settings (gear) icon on the wedding’s header card. The screen that opens is titled Profile & Settings.
  3. Update the fields you need to change and tap Save.
  • Date — you can pick any date from today up to a year ahead. You can’t move a wedding to a past date.
  • Names and numbers — the same rules as when creating. A phone number that isn’t valid for its country greys out Save until you fix it.
  • Corporate events show only the Event Date here. The event name can’t be edited.
The same screen has a Delete Wedding option. The sending number can’t be changed here — a wedding keeps the number it was created with.

Deleting a wedding

Only a wedding’s Admin can delete it. Members and View Only team members can’t.
  1. Open the wedding and tap the gear icon.
  2. Tap Delete Wedding at the bottom of Profile & Settings.
  3. Read the warning: “Once this wedding is deleted, all of your content will be permanently gone from our database. This cannot be undone.”
  4. Type DELETE in capital letters in the To confirm this, type DELETE box and tap Delete Wedding.
You’ll see 🎉 Your Wedding was deleted! The wedding disappears for you and for everyone on its team, along with its guest list and groups.
Deleting is permanent and can’t be undone. If you only want to stop working on a wedding, you don’t need to delete it. Leave it, and it simply becomes read-only 10 days after the wedding date. To keep a copy of your guests first, use Export Guest Data in More.
To leave a wedding someone else created without deleting it, remove yourself from its team. See Team Collaboration.

Managing multiple weddings

Weddingkart is built for event managers who run several weddings at once. You can create as many weddings as you need from a single account. To switch between weddings, go back to your list of weddings and tap the one you want to work on. Each wedding is completely separate — guest lists, groups, announcements, credits, and analytics do not overlap between weddings.
  • Your Weddings lists every wedding you created or were added to as a team member, newest first.
  • Search (magnifying glass at the top) finds a wedding by the bride’s, groom’s, or event’s name.
  • Pin weddings you’re actively working on so they stay at the top: long-press the card and tap Pin Wedding. This option appears once you have more than 10 weddings, or while the search bar is open. Long-press again and tap Unpin Wedding to undo it.
  • Read-only weddings stay in your list so you can still look at them.
Weddings you were added to by someone else appear in your list automatically when you log in with the phone number they added. There’s nothing to accept.

Wedding lifecycle

The wedding date must be today or later when you create a wedding. The wedding stays active up to the wedding date and for 10 days after it. During those 10 days, a banner on the wedding’s home screen counts down the days left. After that, the wedding becomes read-only and can no longer send messages to guests.

The countdown banner

Once the wedding date has passed, a banner appears at the top of the wedding’s Home tab. It says:
Wedding goes inactive in 7 days After that you won’t be able to send announcements or modify the guest list. Tap an action below.
The number counts down each day (…in 1 day on the last day). The banner is grey with 7 or more days left, turns amber with 3–6 days left, and red with 2 or fewer. It offers Send final message, Extend wedding, and Download data buttons. When the 10 days are up, the banner changes to:
This wedding is now read-only Extend the wedding to continue sending messages or managing the guest list.
On a corporate event the banner says “event” instead of “wedding”.

What read-only means

A read-only wedding stays in your list, and you and your team can still open it and look at guests, RSVPs, reports, and chats. What stops:
  • Sending announcements. Queued or scheduled announcements for the wedding don’t go out.
  • Replying from Chat. Sending a message shows This wedding is no longer live. Sending messages is disabled.
  • Uploading ID cards by hand, which shows “This wedding is no longer live. ID card uploads are disabled.”
  • Processing files guests send. Tickets and IDs guests send on WhatsApp after this point aren’t read into their records.
Send any thank-you or final message before the countdown ends. If you need more time, contact Weddingkart support from the help icon at the top of the screen.

Next steps

With your wedding created, you’re ready to set up the rest of the event:

Create guest groups

Organize guests by family side, city, ceremony, or any custom segment.

Add team members

Invite coordinators and on-ground staff to collaborate on the wedding.

Send announcements

Send WhatsApp invites, updates, and reminders to guests or specific groups.

Common questions

Create one wedding with the first day as the Wedding Date. Then add each function (Haldi, Sangeet, Reception, and so on) as its own event under Events, each with its own date, time, and venue.
No. The date picker starts at today. Weddingkart is for weddings that are still coming up.
When creating a wedding, you can pick a date up to about 18 months ahead. When editing an existing wedding, you can move the date up to a year ahead.
No. It only records who you are to the couple. Whoever creates a wedding is always its Admin and has full access.
No. The number chosen under Send messages from is fixed when the wedding is created. If you want to use your own number, connect it first and then create a new wedding that uses it.
Entering the couple’s numbers only sends them a WhatsApp message about the wedding. To give the bride access, add her from Team. The wedding then appears when she logs in with that number.
No. The type is chosen when you create it. Create a new corporate event from Create Event instead.
Go back to your list of weddings and tap the one you want. Use search to find it by name, and pin the ones you use most.
Only the wedding’s Admin can delete it, by typing DELETE to confirm. Deletion is permanent and removes the wedding for the whole team. It can’t be recovered.
The wedding date has passed. Ten days after the wedding date the wedding becomes read-only and can’t send messages. Use the remaining days to send any final messages and download your data.
The wedding is more than 10 days past its wedding date and is now read-only. You can still view everything, but you can’t send. Contact Weddingkart support from the help icon if you need more time.
Yes. Every new wedding starts with free credits of its own. See Payments & Credits.
